PLANNING YOUR TEMPLE WEDDING
Where I live in Utah, there are a lot of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS/Mormon), myself included. This means there are a lot of weddings that take place in the church's Temples. These weddings are different than traditional weddings in that there isn't a public ceremony that the photographer is present for. Instead, I am there as they exit the Temple and take pictures with their family and friends! However, more and more LDS brides are starting to add ceremonies and ring ceremonies to their big day in order to have that public celebration with their loved ones. There is a lot to consider when thinking about photography for your big day, and here are some things to think about that might help!
The Traditional LDS Wedding Day - Temple, Luncheon, and Reception
The traditional LDS wedding day that I photograph looks like this:

Temple Ceremony, with pictures after
Luncheon or Dinner with family and friends
Reception

If this is what your wedding day looks like, then you will need 5-7 hours of wedding coverage. Plan for 1.5-2 hours at the Temple for group photos and bride and groom portraits. If you have the time and we didn't do a Bridal/Formal session ahead of time, 2 hours is ideal. If you want me at the luncheon or dinner you will want to plan for the 1-2 hours that you want me there. Lastly, if your reception is the traditional 2 hours long, plan to have me there for 3 hours. I will come early and take pictures of the venue, more family/friend/wedding party/couples photos, and all of the amazing details that you put together for your special day! It will also leave a little extra time at the end in case your exit is a little later than expected. You don't want to feel rushed if you are having a good time!

If you are just planning to have me at the Temple/Reception,
5 hours is usually perfect. If you want to add a luncheon to that, then plan for more time.
Adding a Ceremony or Ring Ceremony to your LDS Temple Wedding
There are a lot of LDS brides and grooms who are doing ceremonies/ring ceremonies on their wedding day now, before or after the Temple. If that is something you are considering, your day may look like this:

Getting ready
Ceremony/Ring Ceremony
Temple Ceremony, with pictures after
Luncheon or Dinner with family and friends
Reception

For a day like this you will want about 8 hours of coverage. I can include photos of you getting ready in the morning at home, or just at the venue. I can be at the luncheon/dinner or just be there for part of the time. These are the details that we will discuss beforehand, but hopefully this helps gives you an idea of what you want to do!
